WHAT IS RUSH?
Rush is a two week process which includes concerts, auditions, callbacks, rush meals, and the always greatly anticipated "Tap Night." We know how stressful Rush can be, so we hope this page will help guide you through!
I've never had any vocal training and I've never sung seriously before. Can I still audition?
Absolutely! Though some of us had been taking voice lessons for several years, some of us had only sung in the shower before auditioning for Something Extra. We welcome all experience levels!
Oh no! I missed Woolsey Jam and/or Dwight Jam! Can I still sign up?
Definitely! While we definitely recommend that you attend both of these concerts, all is not lost. Woolsey is just for you get a glimpse of each a cappella group's style. If you miss Dwight, you can still sign up for an audition by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Is it possible to be part of an a cappella group if I also want to participate in other extracurriculars?
Yes! In fact, all of our members participate in activities outside of a cappella. Something Extra has a presence at the Yale Daily News, the Alpha Phi, Pi Beta Phi, the Yale Drama Coalition, Sophomore Class Council, American Red Cross at Yale, and many more!
I'm a sophomore and I've realized a cappella would be perfect for me. Have I missed my chance?
Of course not! We encourage sophomores to rush us, and being older doesn't affect your chances of being tapped in any way. We can't wait to hear you!
